The strong thread that connected Athens and Penteli in ancient times is grasped from the beginning by the Municipality of Penteli and the Municipality of Athens and jointly create a new important cultural institution, the Festival of Mount Penteli.
The festival will be held every year at the beginning of September on Mount Penteli, while throughout the year, there will be cultural events in Athens and Penteli. The curtain will open with the historic ERT Choir, in an honorary tribute to our great composer Mikis Theodorakis, at the site of the Ancient Quarry of Penteli.
Until September 18, with free admission, the public will be able to watch concerts. theatrical performances, concerts, exhibitions and lectures, in emblematic spaces, which are highlighted and reintroduced to the public, such as the Ancient Quarry of Penteli and the Palace of the Duchess of Placentia.
Regarding the initiative, the Mayors of Penteli Dimitra Kehagia and Athens Kostas Bakoyannis stated:
Dimitra Kehagia – Mayor of Penteli : ” From the bowels of Mount Penteli, from the Ancient Quarry, through a miracle of engineering, quarrying art and culture, the timeless symbol of Athens, of Greece, was created. Our duty in the Municipality of Penteli is to highlight this monument, to highlight the cultural wealth of our mountain, to upgrade it environmentally. The Greek Music Workshop of the Municipality of Athens of the Culture, Sports and Youth Organization of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA) participates in the 1st Mount Pentelikos Festival with a concert at the Palace of the Duchess of Placentia.

The goal of the Penteliko Festival
The Mount Pentelikos Festival offers with free admission theatrical performances, concerts, exhibitions, lectures, concerts and through its rich cultural program, aims to:
· Highlight the monuments and cultural treasures of Mount Pentelikos (Ancient Quarry, other quarry sites, Palace of the Duchess of Placentia, Byzantine heritage).
· Connect these different historical periods with the present.
Familiarize the residents of Lekanopedi with these areas.
· Strengthen and promote through its events the belief that culture and the natural environment are an indivisible unity.
· Be a new pole of attraction for cultural tourism.
The festival is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
Η οδός της Λιθαγωγίας που ένωνε την Πεντέλη με την Αθήνα
Οι δύο Δήμοι συνδέονταν και συνεργάζονταν από την αρχαιότητα. Η οδός Λιθαγωγίας είναι η πορεία καταβίβασης των μαρμάρων από την καρδιά του Πεντελικού Όρους στον Παρθενώνα, το σύμβολο της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς της πατρίδας μας. Η λιθόστρωτη διαδρομή της «Πεντελέθεν Λιθαγωγίας», με αφετηρία το Αρχαίο Λατομείο της Σπηλιάς, φυλάσσει τα μυστικά του θαύματος του Παρθενώνα, του μνημείου που αποτελεί την πλέον αξιόπιστη μαρτυρία ενός προηγμένου τεχνολογικά και αισθητικά πολιτισμού.
Ο Παρθενώνας, στο Δήμο Αθηναίων και το Αρχαίο Λατομείο στο Δήμο Πεντέλης, επανασυνδέονται ως σημεία υψηλής συμβολικής, πολιτικής και θρησκευτικής αξίας μέσω του Πολιτισμού.
Το φεστιβάλ Πεντελικού Ορους πραγματοποιείται με την Αιγίδα του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού και Αθλητισμού.
